Gametalk: Catherine

When this game was about to come out, I remember thinking it looked really messed up and definitely wanted to play it haha :). But seriously, it was developed by Atlus, what did you expect?

So Catherine is a puzzle/platformer game and let me tell you something, it is NOT easy. When I had to pick a level of difficulty I chose Normal, naturally… Oh how I regretted that later…so many times… Seriously, the puzzles are tough. But well, what really got me into playing this game was the plot, I remember everyone thinking it was a game for guys since it was supposed to be about this hot girl, so I downloaded the demo when it was available (you must know I really like the Persona games) and I loved it! I’m sure a lot of girls would really like the story too, it’s pretty original.

You play as Vincent, who is currently in a relationship with Katherine (if you ask me she’s way too good for him, he's pathetic, but whatever) and she tells him that she thinks it’s time to get married, which basically freaks him out.

You see that recently there have been these weird cases about men dying in their sleep, which seems to be happening very often and it’s all over the media. A rumor starts spreading about these events: if a person dreams of falling and doesn’t wake up before hitting the ground, they’re going to die in their sleep.

One night Vincent is at The Stray Sheep, the bar he frequently goes to with his friends, there he meets Catherine and, well, they spent the night together. After that, Vincent starts having these weird nightmares and he finds out that they’re related to the rumors, so he must stay alive in his dreams in order to stay alive in real life.

Long story short: cheating men die in their sleep.

That’s basically what the game’s about, during the day there will be a bunch of cutscenes where you get to see how messed up Vincent is, then at night you go to the bar to hang out, drink a bit (which is really helpful for when you’re in your nightmares), talk to people and even send some text messages, after that Vincent goes to sleep and that’s when the fun begins.

Also, throughout the game you get asked a lot of questions and are given options when talking to others, depending on your answers your “karma meter” changes and you get to have different endings, which is pretty nice.

And that’s all I’m going to tell you so I don’t spoil it for you if you want to play the game :). I do really recommend it, it’s very original and pretty fun, but God please, play in Easy mode if you want to enjoy this.

Have you played Catherine or any other Atlus game? What did you think of it?

Thank you for reading! Bye-Bye!
