It has been 500 years since Aelana has been home, and a lot has changed in that time--including her. As a half-dragon, half-human hybrid, she has been traveling the universe destroying worlds. Both anxious and excited to return, she wonders what she will find. Her memories of home are filled with pain and loss, especially for her first and only love. She knows he won't be there, but will his memory? Will her anguish remain? What waits for Aelana on her home world? Find out in this exciting urban fantasy novel by Pembroke Sinclair.

**I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

Dragons go from planet to planet to destroy the people living on them, but, after Aelana becomes a hybrid between a human and a dragon, everything changes and people finally get a chance to survive.

Now, 500 years after Aelana changed and left her planet, she has to come back, and she doesn't know what people might think of her, since the last time she was here was when she went through her transformation, and everyone saw her as a threat. Surprisingly to her, she is considered a protector by many, the Wucaii they call her, and she's the only one who can help them survive the dragons' wrath.

This is definitely a very original story, I'm into dragons, mermaids and all that stuff, but I've never read anything like this.

At first the story was a bit confusing, since you don't know anything about Aelana or the dragons, or why they even destroy worlds! But little by little we find out more about everything and it all starts making sense.

Aelana is not only worried about the people who are going to die when the dragons come to the planet, but also because she seems to have found the reincarnation of her soul mate, Thoran, the one who died 500 years ago because of her.

Kalen seems to be a bit different from Thoran, but there is something about him that makes Aelana feel like they belong together. I will admit I wasn't too crazy about him, but he did seem like a good guy, even if he was a bit dumb at times. And there's also Dek, a guy with great power (especially for a human), who's taken an interest in Aelana as well. He wants her to teach him to communicate with nature the way she does, and to reveal to him all the secrets about being a Wucaii.

I really loved the way the story was told, mostly with flashbacks about Aelana's life before becoming what she is now. It's very well done and, after you start putting all the pieces together, it's very easy to understand the whole story. And all the action scenes in the book are written pretty well also, I think it's really easy for an author to write action scenes that end up being messy and confusing, but this wasn't the case here.

A very original story that I recommend to all fantasy lovers :)

Thank you for reading! ♥
