Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016)

I was SO excited to go see this movie, I'm a huuuge fan of Alice in Wonderland, and I loved the first movie from 2010, so there was no way I was not looking forward to this!

First of all, you must know that Alice in Wonderland is kind of my everything.

I LOVE anything that has to do with it, it's such an amazing story, I just can't get it enough of it.

Now that you know that little fact about me, let's just start our review.

The beginning of this movie is incredible, it was so amazing that it brought tears to my eyes. Alice is such a strong and independent woman, just like she ought to be. She even has men respecting her as their superior while doing a "man's job", which was considered to be pretty absurd for that time. But leave it to her to do the "impossible".

In your face, Hamish!!

The story is mostly about the Hatter (HELL YES) and his family, the Hightopps. He just can't help but think about the day they were attacked by the Jabberwocky, and feels guilty because of how he left things off with his father. So he wants Alice to help him find them, because he knows that if there's someone who can do that, it's her.

To help Hatter, Alice must go to Time's home (because yes, it's a "he") and take his Chronosphere to travel to the past and warn his family. Now, this was so very exciting for me, because I love time travel, it just makes any story so much better, if you ask me. But, of course, things don't go as planned, and Alice ends up in a different time, but this only helps her unravel the truth behind the Red Queen's crazy behavior and the whereabouts of the Hightopps.

The Red Queen's story was very entertaining, I loved learning about her past and also Mirana's (White Queen) and dare I say young Mirana was the loveliest girl, I must look her up to draw a portrait of her character one day, I must.

Time was also pretty great, I really loved him and he made me laugh quite a lot. And oh God all the jokes the other characters were throwing his way were just perfect. I did love seeing the whole mad crew together (especially when some of them were having their tea party and making all those jokes I just mentioned). We get to see them more as a family, it was lovely. I just love them all so much.

This movie has a lot of great lessons, too. Some we hear all the time, but it's nice to remind ourselves of them from time to time. Such as how you can't change the past, but learn from it. To be nice to others while you still get the chance. To respect your loved ones' wishes. And, of course, to treasure every single moment.

We also learn a lot from Iracebeth and Mirana (the queens), I thought their story was pretty cute.

And what else can I say? Just good things, since I can't think of bad ones, I loved this. I love Alice. I love Wonderland. I love the Mad Hatter.

Just go see it.

Have you seen the movie? What did you think of it?

Thank you for reading! ♥

  7. I have yet to see this movie! I liked the first one a lot, even though I'm not a massive fan of the first Alice in Wonderland book. I do think the idea of showing us more about the Hatter and also the Red Queen's backstory is cool... and Time looks amazing. Honestly, the graphics seem so mouthwateringly good from what I've seen.

  8. I haven't watch this, for some reason it's haven't come out in my country yet... Chessie and Mad Hatter were my favorites in the previous movie, so really looking forward to seeing more of them. And the graphic in the movies are so stunning, I can't wait to be transported back to the Wonderland!
