Outlander - Season 1 (Part 1)

As I’ve told you before, I really love the book Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, I’ve actually read the first books in the series and they’re all wonderful, even if they’ve hurt my feelings (A LOT) more than once.

If you want to read my review of the first book, which I’ve already posted, you can find it here:

I must say I was really impressed by this show, the casting is amazing, the scenery is just beautiful, the clothes and all the elements they took in consideration when making it, since it’s historical fiction, are incredible. They’re doing an awesome job!

If you haven’t read the books, I’d still recommend this show to you; most episodes are packed with action, suspense, and a little bit of romance… for just this first part really, because from now on we’re going to have a lot more of Claire and Jamie, hurray!

So for those of you who haven’t heard of Outlander, this is what it’s about (and I quote what I wrote in my review of the first book haha):

The story follows the life of Claire Randall, an English combat nurse who goes to Scotland on a second honeymoon with her husband. While being there, she’s suddenly transported two hundred years back in time, and has to face the dangers of Scottish clan life. Soon after that she meets Jamie, and this is where madness begins. Yes, madness. There’s so much going on in this book!

It’s wonderful. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

It’s actually ridiculous how much time I spend thinking about this series, it’s not even funny anymore. I don’t understand how they didn’t make this show before! The books have been around for quite a lot of time.

I also have to admit that this show is making me like Jamie a lot more, and I already adored him. Sam Heughan is the perfect Jamie, he’s a great actor. Same thing with all the Scots: Rupert, Murtagh, Angus and all of them are great in the series and I like them way more. Caitriona is also amazing as Claire, although she looks way more different from how I imagined her, I think my Claire looks a little bit more girlish haha. One thing that bothers me though: they’re also making me like Frank a little… God no. No! I mean, I didn’t care about him in the first book, but after that I didn’t like him one bit, so don’t do this to me, don’t make me like him even if it’s just going to last for a little while… They actually show him in the future (well, his and Claire’s time) and we see how he’s worried about Claire and looking for her, we didn’t have that in the book, and while I think it’s really great that they did this… I refuse to like Frank. I won’t.

I think it’s also amazing how the same actor plays Frank and Jack Randall… and they seem like two totally different people! Every time I see Jack I feel like punching him in the face (not that I don’t want to punch Frank in the face too) and wow, the guy is really good.

Something I didn’t really like about the show is that they split it in two parts. I’d rather have the whole season at once, because we have to wait until April and I think that’s way too long to be waiting for the second part of a season instead of a whole new one, if you ask me. But oh well :(

And oh my God was that corsette she was wearing on her wedding day too tight or what! I think I would’ve fainted wearing that thing, it looked way too painful, poor girl.
