What is the purpose of life? Do worldly success, material comforts, health and wealth ensure happiness and peace? What are good and bad Karmas? What causes all that happens to us in this life... our karma or fate? Is there a state called death? Is there rebirth after death? Is everything preordained, or are we responsible for our doings? How can we achieve ultimate peace and bliss? These are some of the questions that we keep asking ourselves all the time... Drawing from the wisdom of ancient Vedic philosophy and personal experience, the answers to these and many more such oft repeated questions are touched upon, going on to cover the gist of the Vedantas and the supremacy of Karma Yoga, interspersed with practical tips for modern day life, such as the qualities of a good leader, who is an ideal Guru, the effects of philosophy on health, benefits of meditation, etc...

Zootopia (2016)

Judy Hopps wants to become the first rabbit officer in the police department of Zootopia. Once she gets there, the Chief assigns her parking duty, because he doubts she could be as good as the other animals. Finally, she finds a way to prove to him that she can be a great officer, but she's got little time on her hands. Good thing she meets Nick, a fox, who helps her get on with the case and show everyone that she's even more capable than they think.

Hello 2015! Let's stay organized, shall we?

The new year is finally here! (Oh God, whyyy?? Time needs to slow down). So I thought I'd share with you some tips on how I like to stay organized, because who wants to get to school/university one day and find out they had a test they completely forgot about? :)

How to Make a Life Ring

So, lately I've been trying to be more productive and get a lot of things done before going back to class (I can get really bored when I'm not doing anything). One of the things I've been doing is courses on Coursera and I have to say that it's been a lot of fun! :)

One of the courses I'm taking is called Creativity, Innovation and Change and I wanted to talk to you about the assignment we got this week. Most Coursera courses work with weekly videos and an assignment or quiz you have to turn in at the end of the week.

So this week we had to make something called Life Ring. I was a little bit confused at first but when I started making it, little by little, I had a lot of fun and found it to be very useful for my life right now. I won't give you the exact instructions on how to make one, because that's something the teachers of the course provided for us and I don't consider it to be right, but I'll explain the idea of this activity so you can make one yourself, I'm pretty sure there are other instructions out there on how to make this, since I've already seen some life rings out there made by other people.

Now, at first I wasn't sure I wanted to share mine, because it can be a little personal, but I think it can be very helpful to others too. So here's the one I made:

Maleficent (2014)

A few days ago I went to see Maleficent, I had been waiting for this movie since it looked really promising and I LOVE all about the princesses and the classics… And it didn’t disappoint me. I actually went to see it a second time the same week, which I rarely do. As always, I’ll try to keep this as spoiler-free as possible ;)

Catcalling / Street Harassment

Like I’ve mentioned before, I live in Venezuela… and you have no idea how bad this problem is over here…

It’s IMPOSSIBLE to walk just ONE single block without getting a nasty comment from a guy. I’ve even been followed. And sometimes, if I don’t answer (because apparently you have to thank those guys for sexually harassing you!), I’ve been insulted. I would never walk on the streets here wearing a skirt or shorts, I’ve never done it, never will (although I've realized that what you're wearing doesn't make much of a difference in these cases).

Party Person (so not me)

I know I can’t be the only one who doesn’t like going to parties, for most people parties are like a getaway and incredibly fun, but not for me though, quite the opposite.
